“Reach for the Stars” Contest Winner Announced!

After much deliberation, we chose a winner for Dun & Bradstreet Credibility’s “Reach for the Stars” contest: Bjork Construction of Fremont, California.

Back in October, we announced that we would be taking one lucky business owner and his or her guest to the American Music Awards.  When we read Jean Bjork’s entrance essay, we knew she was the one.

Bjork is the owner of Bjork Construction Company, Inc., a woman-owned and operated business. Bjork Construction is paving the way for the next generation of women in construction, but its unique community-based business model has allowed it to grow approximately 80% over the last three years.  Bjork’s company directly involves the communities in which it builds in by hiring local employees, contractors and craftspeople.

The Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp. “Reach for The Stars” prize package also included round-trip air travel for two to Los Angeles, a three night hotel stay at the beachfront JW Marriott Santa Monica Le Merigot, VIP access to the AMA rehearsals, access for two to the official AMA pre-party at LA Live’s Lucky Strike, and private coach transfer to and from the airport and all scheduled events.

Yesterday, Bjork was able to walk the red carpet among celebrities and musicians, before entering the NOKIA Theater in Los Angeles. With prime seating, she and husband Don Bjork were treated to performances by Taylor  Swift, Carrie Underwood, Justin Beiber, Pink and many more.  As a bonus, she was able to see previous client MC Hammer (she built his infamous house) dance Gangham style with Korean performer PSY!

While we were ecstatic to be able to reward Bjork for her hard work, the highlight for our team was getting to talk with Bjork about her business strategy and endeavors.
